LIBRA NGC 5595 Pretty faint, pretty
small, elongated 2X1 in PA 20 and little brighter in the middle at 135X. NGC 5597 Pretty faint, pretty
small, elongated 2X1 in PA 60 and somewhat brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5605 Faint, pretty small, very little elongated 1.2 X 1 in PA 90, very gradually brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 5716 Faint, pretty small,
little brighter in the middle and little elongated (1.2X1) in PA 45 at
135X. NGC 5728 Pretty faint, pretty
large, much elongated (3X1) in PA 45 and much brighter in the middle at
165X. There is a 13th mag star just north of the nucleus which forms a
"double nucleus" in the middle of this galaxy. NGC 5729 Pretty faint, pretty
large, much elongated (3X1) in PA 160 and brighter in the middle at 135X. NGC 5756 Pretty faint, pretty
small, elongated 2X1 in PA 75 and brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5757 Faint, small, little elongated 1.5 X 1 in PA 0, little brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 5768 Faint, small, round, very little brighter in the middle at 150X. A 12th mag star is on the southern edge. NGC 5791 Pretty faint, pretty small, elongated 1.8 X 1 in PA 0, much brighter middle with a stellar nucleus at 150X. NGC 5792 Pretty bright, pretty large, elongated 2 X 1 in PA 90, much brighter in the middle at 150X. There is a 9th mag star on the western tip of this galaxy. The bright middle shows an obvious nuclear bulge with a very suddenly brighter nucleus. I believe this bright central section is what led Herschel to call this object "round". NGC 5793 Faint, small, elongated
2 X 1 in PA 165, brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 5796 Faint, pretty small,
round, brighter middle at 150X. NGC 5812 Pretty bright, pretty
small, round and suddenly very bright in the middle at 165X. NGC 5858 Pretty faint, small, round and much brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5861 Pretty faint, pretty
large, elongated 2X1 in PA 0 and little brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5872 Pretty faint, pretty small, elongated 1.5X1 in PA 15 and much brighter in the middle at 135X. There is a 12th mag star about 2 arc minutes to the east. NGC 5878 Pretty faint, pretty
large, elongated 3X1 in PA 0 and much brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5880 Faint, small, round and somewhat brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5883 Very faint, pretty small, elongated 1.5X1 in PA 165 and not brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 5885 Faint, pretty large,
very gradually brighter in the middle and elongated 1.5X1 in PA 30 at
100X. There is a 10th mag star on the NE edge. NGC 5892 Camp 613 S=8, T=10 13" f/5.6 150X-very faint, pretty large, very gradually very little brighter middle, there is a 13th mag star on eastern edge, overall not much. NGC 5897 Pretty faint, large,
gradually brighter in the middle and rich at 135X. I counted 22 stars
resolved on a night I rated 6/10 for seeing and transparency. There is
certainly not the usual "blazing core" to this globular.
NGC 5903 Pretty faint, pretty
small, round, gradually much brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 5915 Pretty faint, small, round and brighter in the middle at 165X. 150X-pretty faint, small, round, little brighter middle, small but high surface brightness. companion to south is faint, pretty small, round and not brighter in middle. NGC 5915A Very faint, small and round. It is averted vision only at 165X. NGC 5916 Faint, pretty small, round and not brighter in the middle at 165X. Merrill 2-1 Pretty bright, very
small, round and not brighter in the middle at 220X. It was noticed at
135X, but it is better at 220X. This tiny planetary is light green at
all powers. Double Stars Alpha Lib Very wide, split in 11X80 finder. White and yellow in scope at 100X. B 225 Split at 100X, white and light greenish Iota Lib Wide split at 100X, white and light blue. Struve 1962 Split at 100X, both light yellow a nice matched pair |
