CAMELOPARDALIS by Steve Coe 13.1" f/5.6 unless noted NGC 1501 Bright, Large, round at 165X. The central star comes and goes at lower powers but is held steady at 270X. This planetary is a light blue disk at all powers. There are some dark markings within the disk, somewhat like the Eskimo Nebula in Gemini. Sentinel 13" 8/10--150X, immediately obvious, pretty bright, pretty large, round, a grey disk. The central star comes and goes with the seeing. 220X--nice view, central star held steady, nebula is quite mottled. 440X (4.7mm)--little elongated 1.2X1 PA 90, brighter on the north side of the annulus. UHC filter actually dims this object. NGC 1502 Bright, large, and pretty rich at 100X. There are 27 stars counted in the cluster with several bright pairs and a nice blue and gold double on the north east side. This somewhat scattered open cluster is easy in the 11X80 finder. NGC 1530 Pretty faint, pretty large, pretty much elongated 2X1 in PA 165 and somewhat brighter in the middle at 165X. NGC 1569 Pretty bright, pretty small, pretty much elongated 2X1 in PA 120, brighter in the middle with the "central" bright section offset to the west. There is a 10th mag star about 1' north at 150X. NGC 1961 Pretty faint, pretty large, elongated 1.5 X 1 in PA 90, brighter in the middle, 13th mag star on South side at 135X. It is a little mottled in the arms. NGC 2146 Bright, pretty large, bright middle and little elongated at 135X. There is a 10th mag double star nearby to the east. There is a hint of spiral structure with averted vision. NGC 2268 Pretty bright, pretty large, elongated 2X1 in PA 75 with a brighter middle and a 12th mag star on the western tip at 150X. NGC 2314 Pretty faint, small, round and little brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 2347 Faint, small, round, bright middle, 11th mag star 1' west at 150X. IC 2179 in the field, it is pretty faint, pretty small, much elongated 3X1 in PA 0, with a brighter middle at 150X. NGC 2366 Very faint, pretty large, a little brighter in the middle at 135X. This low surface brightness galaxy has a 12th mag star involved on the south side. NGC 2403 Bright, large and elongated 1.5X1 in PA 135 degrees at 135X. This object is bright enough to be seen with the 11X80 finderscope. There are several stars involved with faint spiral structure in the outer sections in this lovely galaxy. The middle is gradually much brighter. From the darkest sites, the spiral arms of this galaxy shimmer and sparkle with mottling. Sentinel 13" 8/10--seen in 11X80, 100X--bright, very large, much elongated 2X1 in PA 120, gradually pretty much brighter in the middle. The arms are very mottled, with 8 stars superimposed. 220X--very nice view, mottled across the entire face, much brighter middle with stellar nucleus, several dark lanes seen. NGC 2441 Very faint, pretty large, very little brighter in the middle, round, just a blob at 150X. NGC 2460 Faint, pretty small, elongated 1.8X1 in PA 30, bright middle at 150X. IC 2209 in the field is very faint, pretty small, elongated 1.5X1 and not brighter in the middle. NGC 2523 Pretty bright, pretty small, much brighter in the middle and elongated 2X1 in PA 75 at 165X. There is no stellar nucleus at any power. It has a companion galaxy (2523B) to the west, it is very faint, small and round. NGC 2551 Faint, small, very little elongated 1.2 X 1 in PA 60, brighter in the middle with a stellar nucleus at 150X. NGC 2633 Faint, pretty small, little elongated 1.5 X 1 in PA 0, somewhat brighter in the middle at 150X. NGC 2633A is in the field, it is faint, pretty small and round. NGC 2646 Faint, pretty large, round, much brighter in the middle and has a 13th mag star involved on the north side at 150X. This galaxy grows with averted vision. NGC 2655 Bright, pretty large and little elongated at 135X. This galaxy is much brighter in the middle with a bright central nucleus at 220X. Sentinel 13" 8/10--just seen in 11X80, 150X-- bright, pretty large, elongated 1.5 X 1 in PA 90, very suddenly much brighter in the middle with a stellar nucleus. Averted vision helps a lot on this nice, but not spectacular galaxy. NGC 2715 Pretty bright, large, not brighter in the middle and very elongated (3X1) in PA 0 degrees. A nice lens-shaped galaxy at 135X. NGC 2732 Pretty bright, small, bright middle and elongated 1.5X1 in PA 45 degrees. There is an 11th mag star at the NE tip at 135X. NGC 2748 Pretty bright, pretty large and somewhat brighter in the middle at 135X. Elongated 2X1 in PA 45 degrees. IC 342 Pretty faint, very large, round and much brighter in the middle at 100X. This low surface brightness galaxy was difficult to find from a light polluted site. IC 3568 Pretty bright, pretty small, round and light blue at 270X. When using a lower magnification for searching (100X), this object is a beautiful bluish disk afloat in a Milky Way field. There is a 12th mag star close to the planetary on the west side. The central star is visible in moments of good seeing. The "central" star is offset to the east side of the nebula. Averted vision makes the nebulosity grow in size. Stock 23 Pretty bright, pretty large and easy in the 11X80 finder. At 100X this cluster is 17 stars scattered within a 10 arc minute area. King 6 Pretty bright, pretty large, pretty rich and little compressed at 100X. It consists of 24 stars of mags 10 to 13 and has a nice granular background of unresolved stars. Berkeley 10 Faint, pretty large, not rich, compressed at 100X. There are 10 stars resolved across the face of faint glow. I noticed this cluster at 100X, but it is better at 165X. Double Stars Struve 362 Split at 100X, both light yellow, within Stock 23 cluster. Struve 374 Easy split at 100X, white and yellow. Struve 390 Split at 100X, white and purple. 1 CAM Split at 100X, white and light blue. 11-12 CAM Wide pair split in finderscope. At 100X the other pair is wide and easy, colors light yellow and light purple. 29 CAM Easy at 100X, yellow and light blue. 35 CAM Easy at 100X, white and light blue. Beta CAM Wide and easy split at 100X, yellow and blue in a dark nebula. Red Stars UV CAM Near NGC 1502 cluster, nice dark orange star in Milky Way field at 100X.
